Kristen Mc Menamy marked Teller’s entrance on the scene:
a no-frills shot showing the bare physicality of the naked human
body. In a blurred mix of criticism and self-praise,
teller seems intended to present the subtle ambiguous basis,
the swirling vacuum on which the fashion industry is based.

His work epitomises the shift away from the cosmetic perfection
of the 1980s towards a much rawer, apparently spontaneous look,
the models are portrayed (Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss to
name but two), placing them in a private setting, far from the
world of glamour.

He points out the slight physical 'imperfections'
that constitute each model's unique form of beauty.
alongside contemporaries Corinne Day, David Sims and
Nigel Shafran, he has been credited with changing the face
of fashion photography, away from the slick surfaces and
impossible gloss of the 80s, to a more authentic realism
for the 90.
Teller has always insisted on creative freedom in his
commercial work, and works only with models and stylists
who he feels can respond personally and creatively to his
concepts for shoots and campaigns.
