Play with me !

Haircuts are playful. Ask any designer, hair stylist, photographer, editorialist... There's always a good reason to play with shapes, lengths and colors. Just like what you can do with clothes. From Lacroix s/s 07 all in red bobs to Galliano doing some mischievous swaps between models' hair, turning redheads into brunettes and brunettes into blondes. There are many examples. In the same mood both Steven Meisel and Olaf Wipperfürth turned Lithuanian brunette Dovile Virsilaite into a platinum blonde. Nataliya Piro might be one of the record holders for the number of editorials where she's wearing fancy wigs. Pink, black and greenish yellow not to mention her appearance in Amuleti J f/w 06-07 where all models wore blond wigs.

Photographer Ellen von Unwerth and designer Marc Jacobs (with the useful help of hair stylist Guido Palau) are other examples of those big-time hair-obsessed people in the fashion industry. Ellen's ediotorials include Ilona Kuodiene leaving her shy hair color for a copper-red flashy one and Olya Ivanisevic recently turned to blond for Vogue Italia. Marc Jacobs put it a step ahead dying both Zosia Prominska and Katia Kokoreva in preppy blue. And the latter is famous for being a hair-chameleon all over her modeling career.

The main strenght of that effect is the combination of preppy blue hair and clothes with very strict cuts, almost looking like tuxedos. It's like you've watching two working girls going to their office and gives the blue color a very natural aspects, as if we were used to see blue-haired people walking in the streets of a business area in a big town.

Here is another example of colorful hair though the result is completely different from Marc Jacobs effect. It's seems that those eye-catching colors are an extra touch of fun to the spectacle as most Westwood shows are spectacular. Interesting thing to mention as well is regarding the models. Kasia is now have her hair cut and Tanya Chubko who had a bob at that time (with fringe pulled back here) is now waiting for a longer hairdo.

Another example of designers playing with hair colors. Schwab booked Holly Burrows who turned to bright red at that time among other models with dark hair, pulled back contrasting with Holly's huge amount of red bangs. It gives us the impression all the models were wearing wigs and all of them excepted Holly put the off.

Other examples include Mina Cvetkovic who turned from light-brown to heavy black and while she did it, she shot a Glamour Italia cover wearing a blond, nearly white wig. Or Georgia Frost recently changing for a crow black tone.
