Dancing in my mind

Queeny Van Der Zande @ Viva (Paris), Viva (London)

Is it possible to fall in love with a model's name ? No clue, maybe not. Which influence it has on her image ? No clue either, maybe a little. At least. When we heard of Queeny for the first time, she was another promising new faces from Wilma Wakker, the well-known source of great ones in Amsterdam. We heard of her before we saw her and must say her name had this aura of mystery. If an intriguing name can fool you from time to time, a unique one is often a good way to get noticed and remembered. In Queeny's case, her name is no curios. We just wouldn't imagine her with another one, we just think it goes hand in hand with her hard-to-describe kind of beauty. Would you say classic ? Probalby not, without fitting the definition of belle laide. Neither sleek nor freak. Never underwhelming, never overwhelming. Poised ? Would be an incomplete and unperfect way to describe her even if very true somehow. We're like dancing from one way to see her to the other. The only thing we know is she's unforgettable. First in London, booking no less than Roksanda Ilincic, John Rocha, Paul Smith or House of Holland. Then in Paris, making our day at Cher Michel Klein's backstage and able to jump from Collette Dinnigan to Yohji Yamamoto. Basically, from Holland (both her home country and Henry, sorry for the unexpected joke) to Yamamoto. Again and again, the one you can't put in any category. Unmistakably.
