Kristina Almanova @ Marilyn (NY)

There is a little lack of big names in her show list but it doesn't really matter. It's one thing to write a review on Calvin Klein's exclusives and we couldn't have missed the opportunity with their casting of the season including Lyndsey Scott or Bojana Reljic, two girls we've been following step by step. It's a totally other thing to make a proper review of what or who really caught our eyes. New York castings always require a lot of investigation and analysis, even more this time. An exclusive or a list of big bookings will never be a safe guarantee of a bright career. It offers immediate exposure and that's it. That's great but see how many exclusives didn't survive the hype. Examples are legions, nothing is granted. And, after all, our true passion is all about analysing, investigating across all the shows, checking the smallest castings to discover pearls.
One of these jewels is called Kristina Almanova. She embodies refinement and radiates elegance to say the least. Just have a look at how Cameron Krone worked with her and you might get the general idea. She walked for TSE, L'Wren Scott, Marchesa, Juan Carlos Obando or Generra. None of these names creates the same exctitement as Prada, Calvin Klein or Balenciaga but they are among these shows we use to spot interesting newcomers. They were already our sources last season and we're happy they keep the same high level. If you have a look at their castings you might find some of the most thrilling new girls that were in town for fashion week. Emphasis on the aesthetic was high at each of them, bookings were done carefully and the results are more than consistent.
It also gave us a proper overview of what could be Kristina's editorial abilities. When a model can work out a bright orange hood as easily as her own casual outfit, there might be some big hopes she can also do the same in front of the camera. Her story with Cameron Krone already confirms it, in an even stronger way as it's in black and white and much cleaner, sleeker and right to the point (her face). Expect her to be one of these unique girls that have their own look and enough versatility to fit any kind of styling. As she's signed in Europe too, with Storm (London), Marilyn (Paris) and Joy (Milan), we're currently keeping our fingers crossed. She's too directional to get overlooked in at least one of these towns. And most likely some designers/casting directors have already spotted her. Remember the world is always smaller as it seems...
