Kylie Bisutti by Jonathan Leder

Before the Gig

Life is not easy but... can be funny. Got some news from Jonathan Leder last night, new pictures with Victoria's Secret contest winner Kylie Bisutti. Went to the coffee machine and back to the computer, got another mail. Insider tips on Prada's casting. News from the previous evening weren't relevant as Prada's plans changed and the new news (if we can say so) were about VS girls walking the show in Milan tonight. Thought of Jonathan's mail, thought of Kylie's pictures. Had absolutely no clue if she would be there and still have no hint right now as our computer (or Prada's website) doesn't allow us to watch it live, but that appeared as a sort of sign to us.

During the Show

A sign ? What sign ? Tried to watch the show live when something finally appeared of the screen. There was indeed a little bit of unexpected (well for those who had no clue). There was something a little bit different, some choices seemed to get slightly out of the beaten tracks but nothing really groundbreaking in the end. No misunderstanding, though. The casting wasn't bad and many models were at the right place there -- shall we say then we're begging for someone to get really on the wrong lane to prove us bold choices are possible ? No Kylie Bisutti there but we kinda knew it.

Though, what we considered as possible a few minutes (or hours, let's say) didn't happen: no U-turn (why, after all?) and certainly no revolution. We couldn't be happier to see Catherine McNeil walking the show but she did it before. Let's take it as a sort of confirmation and that's always worth to take. Samantha Gradoville opening and closing ? Certainly a good move, the girl is so talented (and high fashion for that matters) and needed a little more space in the spotlights. Barbarba Palvin making her real debuts ? Grand. And great news for us as we largely supported her dedicating a whole day to her work for french magazines a few weeks ago.

But the overall concept of the casting was vague or it's just us who are bringing it to some too intellectual level while it's only a matter of buzz and only a way to highlight a collection supposed to last for the next six months. Nobody re-wrote History yesterday evening. Maybe that's better but when you've been told "fasten your seatbelt, this is going to rock", you expect to be moved, shaked or shocked. Kirsi kept her debuts as stellar as they were in London, Lindsey's presence was regal and we should be glad of these two news too. Let's be happy, shall we ?

The Day After

One night after, back to writing this piece. No real brainstorming overnight, random thoughts kept pouring on but we try to have a different approach of the whole deal. This season's Prada cast isn't going to change the rules in scouting, developing and promoting models. This season's processes remained quite the same using a few different tricks and highlighting some different trends. Trying to get back to the initial topic -- that suffered or took benefit of chance -- Kylie by Jonathan. She isn't the kind of models we usually worship and probably not the girl you expect to see on FDIB. We're not changing our direction, though. It's getting clearer if you consider her face is quite precious and that Jonathan counts among our favorite photographers ever. Makes sense then, and it's not that bad to move the lines. Just a little, as others do ?

Reminds me of Katrina Hunter, in the face. When she had longer, natural colored hair, definitely.
