Kate King @ Elite (NY)

That's probably the best feeling of the day. When quality of test shots is able to echo the vibe of the latest few good editorials we've seen. When you can smell the inspiration behind a few black and white pictures and guess the real will to step away (forward) from the classical test shooting excercise. Also when the one who holds the camera dares to present the one who poses, moves and acts on the other side in a different way from what is usually expected. We already felt this was an important part of Nando Esparza's work when we wrote a short story on his photographs of Elin Lindskog a few weeks ago but it is definitely getting more obvious than ever in this new series. Taking his model from another angle, crossing the boundaries of stare-pose-etc to create a whole atmosphere where model acts in fully expressive way.

Even if Nando's work is the true centre of this post, we thought a note on the model could be nice as well especially after we got a couple of digitals to put next to her stylish tests. Kate King signed with Elite in New York before the holidays at the end of last year and she's currently working on her book. With a slightly spicier look than most newcomers plus a 5'10 height and enough stamina to match Nando's inspirations, Kate was the perfect unexpected girl to fit on our current schedule, totally on-topic yet not predictable at all.
