Daria Sayapina @ V.G. Model Management (Russia)

It's been a while since we didn't publish anything on a "new face". Because the show season was going wild and it just becomes pointless to introduce anyone unsigned when everybody is watching the castings and collections. Also because it goes too easily over the place, gets out of tune and the message gets blured. Good new models are rather easy to find, great ones are quite harder to spot and the crowd of aspiring "newcomers of the season" is turning our initial excitement for discovery into boring and unnecessary drama. To be able to keep a little thrill in doing what we do, we drastically slowed down the updates on newbies and started doing it with as much honesty and fearlessness as we can put into it. Being selective instead of increasing speed all the time, being creative not to get repetitive. And let's face it: reducing the number of newcomers is also a good signal to send to agencies worldwide to be more careful, to casting directors to keep an eye on the most precious and not to nameless/faceless (and faithless) masses which would be a healthy improvement from what remains more or less the current situation of modeling because everybody wants to gamble more than they can ever handle. Philosophy aside, here comes Daria Sayapina, fresh from V.G. Model Management in Volgograd, Russia.

The agency might not have a revolutionary concept to bring to the table but concentrates on what they can do well for years already: find models who could work abroad and keep the number of girls on board small enough to let everyone know about a certain boutique spirit there, contrasting with several others operating in the area. Recent examples of V.G.'s finds include Kristina Romanova and Valeria Dmitrienko, who got quite an intense coverage on FDIB a short time ago. Daria belongs of course to the newer generation to join the agency and might still have to wait a little before making bigger steps but we do believe her beauty type (say "girl-next-door with a twist" and we insist on the little twist) is more interesting for tomorrow's fashion world than most of the too-weird or too-perfect looks we see right now. For who's craving for polaroids and measurements, we did a short preview right here.
