Fashion does it Better

Romantic Warrior

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) Fashion week frenzy goes on and it seems we keep heading to another direction... to get back to it later. First interesting things, first expectations (not ours) coming true or not, first days and a few more ahead of everyone before the craziness flies to London and so on. We are rather turning to our latest magazine buys than commenting on first shows results and actually we found much more to say on AnOther Magazine than on what's happening on the runways so... Judging The Book By Its Cover

Grey like the sky we like, grey like an atmosphere. If we begin with Grey Magazine, we can hardly stop so let's rather spare our words tonight and keep them for the day we'll have it in hands and see what's inside for real. Let's stop and spare, and let's stick to the cover. Beautiful and simple, simply beautiful and beautifully simple (sorry for using that old trick again) as we wish every cover would be (or become). Plain and powerful, like a lost treasure you would find again by chance. As subtle as it's simple, showing... [Lire la suite]

La Revanche d'Une Brune

Jacquelyn Jablonski @ Supreme (NY) Tears of love might be frozen tears, it's still not supposed to mean they should freeze your mind as well and stick it to the last memories of an era. And when the next chapter is able to warm you up, even when it's actually two chapters later that everything happens, these tears which should have never dried finally vanish and leave room on your face for a brand new smile. Not going to dive deeper into details on the way we lived Valentino Garavani's retirement some seasons ago as ... [Lire la suite]

My Heart Never Healed (From This Love)

Eniko Mihalik @ Marilyn (NY) Scenes from the past spiced up with a few anachronic details or smart recipe made of timeless items that still may be able to catch the spirit of today (with a nostalgic feeling for yesterday and an eye looking at tomorrow). Hard to find the exact words to describe, hard to describe anyway without falling into the usual honeytrap of making a catalogue of references, past or current. Feelings usually do it better when it comes to comment some editorials (from US Harper's... [Lire la suite]

Devil-May-Care

Isabeli Fontana @ Women (NY), Silent (Paris) We found the title on one this story's pages and found quite appropriate to pair it with our entry. Just looked-up again to the expression's possible meanings or the similar words you can find and one of those was freewheeling. Quite a brilliant parallel with what we may experience sometimes, often in some delightful way. And those kind of experimental pathes can lead us right back to the core, to the roots of the project that is FDIB. Going back to the core is... [Lire la suite]

Urban Dreams

Ali Carr, Lauren Brown, Lia Serge, Emily Wake and Lisanne De Jong @ Elite (NY) Alley Cats or Cats' Alley? Hard to know how the actual title of this editorial from newest Dazed & Confused sounds better. Or more appropriate. What is the most important detail: how these girls melt into the beautiful rainy urban landscape or how their presence turns a familiar-looking place into some unknown wonderland. The real magic might be in between, in the interaction between the characters and the atmosphere they evolve in. In... [Lire la suite]

Please Talk To Me

Anna De Rijk @ Viva (Paris) Not really in the mood for overloaded backgrounds these days (rather plain white or concrete walls) but the superannuated vibe we got from these shots plus that kind of modern touch in small clothing details were a pleasure to look at. Though, it's not the vibe or the atmosphere that really caught our attention in this new story from Numéro (issue number 115, styled by Samuel François - pictures scanned by elsaskywalker @ thefashionspot.com). Rather Anna's body language which... [Lire la suite]

Hundred Percent

Freja Beha Erichsen @ IMG (Paris) Not going to give detailed explanations on why there haven't been more updates these last seven days so let's just say Summer and being busy doesn't help releasing creativity when it comes to writing long articles. Also agencies are either already on holidays or looking forward to close their doors for a small vacation (the remaining ones are working hard and we're always here to work hand in hand with any of them). So, it's not going to be a brand new face arriving out of nowhere who... [Lire la suite]

Are You Mad Enough

Patricia Van der Vliet @ New York Models (NY) There are days we miss our eighties, our childhood or what we think it looked like back then. When it wasn't that odd to be dressed like a bubble gum and when discount stores all had creepy names. The need to escape, you know. The emergency that would normally push you to run but sticks your feet on the ground. Can't move, not even wink. Working in a dark room because the sun shines too bright and summer is already getting on our nerves. Don't know if we want september to knock at our... [Lire la suite]

Pixies and Pumpkins

Amanda Norgaard @ Viva (Paris), Supreme (NY) It's rocking and whirling in the land of pixies and pumpkins when Amanda Norgaard gets involved in the storyboard. In a short series dedicated to movies, especially those inspired by fairytales, the delicate Dane plays one role after the other and embodies each character with the same power, bringing them all back to life. We had no trouble to imagine her as the Little Mermaid (and it's actually the only story which inspired two pages in a... [Lire la suite]
