Fashion does it Better

Blue jean, baby queen. Prettiest girl we've ever seen

Regina Feoktistova @ Marilyn (NY) Rock on. A part of Veronique Branquinho S/S 09 soundtrack was Rock On by David Essex. A part of the (excellent) casting, if not the very best one was Regina Feoktistova. Fitting the collection, fitting the song. The pictures of Regina walking with sunglasses and this old-fashioned melody will stay in our ears and in our eyes forever. Besides these memories, she's also one of the New Kids on the Block by Thierry Le Gouès in current French. Casual chic and her unforgettable moody face.... [Lire la suite]

Do it and still do it

Erin Heatherton @ Joy (Milan) We've almost followed her editorial career step by step. At least, we've posted many features on her work with various photographers for many magazines. It's not the first time she's doing Muse yet we're glad to add the name of Olaf Wipperfurth who shot this story. We've already detailed why we think Erin is special and how it translates into pictures. There is a kind of magic, something going beyond the face and features. An attitude, a way to pose. Some kind of love affair with the camera.... [Lire la suite]

TMSRRE part 17: Rachel

Rachel Clark @ Supreme (NY) All you need is Demeulemeester. Well, and Proenza. And a French cover. It makes some precious assets to be reviewed within our subjective reviews right after the shows. Again, it's not a matter of numbers and a well-managed season with the right shows and a cover or editorial just in time will probably leave a stronger mark than being everywhere yet unnoticed in the end. Ann Demeulemeester (see above right) has one of the most interesting casting in Paris. Always. Season after season. Booking... [Lire la suite]

Mamamama... Marloes again

Marloes Horst @ Joy (Milan) We read on the most read fashion forum this morning or yesterday that it was a real emergency to give some editorial job to Marloes. Seems it has already been done as she's in the newest Muse by Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones. The very best timing possible. It's quite good to keep the news coming after walking for Prada. And that's just what's happening now. Already our third entry on Marloes.

A little bit

Yulia Leontieva @ Metropolitan (Paris) She was one of our favorite newcomers during last Couture fashion week and it turned out she lived up to our expectations. Starting the season with no less than Nina Ricci and closing it with no less (again) than Lanvin, it means she simply managed to get two of these shows with both selective and daring castings (read: famous names+outstanding new faces). Add something like Issey Miyake, one of our favorite shows and a few more like Barbara Bui and Atsuro Tayama (both have always more than... [Lire la suite]

Some McCann moments

Laragh McCann @ Women (NY) A bit more than one month ago, just a few days before NY fashion week we thought about an article on Laragh McCann. It turned into a longer post than expected and was finally called Twiglight raspberries and misty mélopées for various random reason. Build with polas and a part of her showcard where she was pictured with that lovely newsboy-cap, the detail that intrigued us and led to such a huge article was her incredible ability to embody various characters for the need of very different runway... Wanted: Chantal

Chantal Abbott @ Crystal (Paris) If we had to build our own top-10 of the season, at least for Paris, there would be a safe spot for Chantal Abbott there. No need to have the longest and the heaviest show list, her bookings are showing a much more interesting profile including no less than Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Bernhard Willhelm and Martin Margiela. All among the shows we're always looking carefully for their brilliant (and often bold) castings. Catching our eyes during Issey Miyake, Chantal (5'10) was even more... [Lire la suite]

TMSRRE part 16: Aline

Aline Weber @ One (NY) She's having a flawless season on every front. Editorials and runways. Would be impossible to pick our favorite show pictures or decide which one was more important for her career. Let's say almost every single catwalk appearance was worth a few lines. From NY to Paris, including Milan and London with a special mention to her british bookings. How could we choose between the way she works out heavy make-up and her natural elegance with much lighter one ? Almost impossible again. Our favorite might be her look... [Lire la suite]

Power Girl

Giedre Dukauskaite @ New York Models We can't help. Thinking it's Giedre's season in some way. She doesn't have the longest list of shows yet Prada and Miu Miu on it are enough to say she did very, very well. Besides her runway performances, she's keeping her magnificent editorials coming and coming. No less than three incredible stories in magazines like Muse, Tokion and especially French (pictures above). All three just released last week. Right in time as her face was one of our last memories from Paris when she came out of... [Lire la suite]
