Fashion does it Better

Jenny in Wonderland

Jenny Chalmers @ Independent (London) When the woman from the bookstore asked us if we wanted a copy of the feb-march'08 issue of Wonderland we just thought the next one was probably already close to be released. And were much more thrilled by the idea of a fresh new issue, the first Wonderland of 2008 wasn't exactly the most exciting ever. Seems we were right, the apr-may'08 issue has at least one reason to become a must-buy for us: the first editorial with Jenny Chalmers. The new face from Independent Models is getting more... She left her heart in San Francisco

Ana Stasha Kitaigorodskaia @ PMST (Czech Republic), Next (Paris), Why Not (Milan) The world is insane. We drink champagne, eat caviar, a color-TV in the back of the car. The wind is warm and the rythm's going faster and faster... No. Nothing of this is real. Just some random thoughts put together. We're in front of the computer, in front of the screen, sitting down in the room, hearing the convo from the outside. Convo about everyday life. Is that more real than the cadillac plus caviar plus champagne ? No idea. All we know is... [Lire la suite]

Meet Tara !

Tara Egan @ Why Not (Milan), Elite (Barcelona) The legacy of the Donaldsons, Onopkas and Trentinis is going on. Their legend is written for long and the next generation is now taking benefits of it. Truly ready to follow them in their footsteps yet writing another chapter and landing on another shore, blown away by another wind. Tara Egan is the latest from this "family", the last but not least of a precious dynasty that has bred a whole bunch of divas, of girls that don't date and talented models.

Controversy (be my sole survivor)

Nasya Piankouskaya, Margaryta Senchylo, Sabina Karlsson with Danguole Stancikaite and Alison Nix.From Teen Vogue apr'08 (courtesy of Jewelbox), Teen Vogue may'08 (courtesy of Luxx) and Marie Claire apr' 08 Seems that today - or these months - it's easier to shock by the clean (clinic ?) aspect of a cover, the minimal styling of an editorial than with something that have breed controversy and misunderstanding through the last decades. No need for raw pictures anymore. No need for blood, clean is the new blood as blood was the... [Lire la suite]

The new ONE

The Lil Ones @ One Model Management New design, new mood. We saw something in the air just before fashion weeks last february, we saw marvelous newcomers arriving one after the other. Now we see fireworks of models poetry, appealing portfolio and whole sets of fantastic polaroids. We're already in deep love with the Lil Ones section, where all the exciting newbies are telling their story to the fashion world. Check it out and you'll know how Sasha Gachulincova was late at her gym lesson, how Tanya Chubko solves mysteries and how a... [Lire la suite]

Busy and busier

We often think she's very busy. Almost always. During the show season ? Seems she's walking everywhere. Everytime we write a press review ? At least one or two magazines with Elena. Now... even if we're more than used to it, we've got the feeling she's just busier than ever. Adding a Flair cover this month to a list already including Common&Sense, French Revue de Modes, Amica or L'Officiel Paris as well as a brand new editorial for Vogue Germany. She might count among the models about to have a serious impact now, even without... [Lire la suite]

Meet Marie !

Marie Cruttendon @ Mode Models (Canada) We've always seen the industry as a world without compromises. These last days it was more about broken wings and fake alibis than integrity and brilliant ideas. Whatever, after all. It won't stop the new faces flow. Le chien aboie, la caravane passe. Nothing can replace the emotion of the discovery, the thrill of the new. Open your eyes, take a look at the marvelous Marie from Mode Models and let the rest of the world speculate.

Goldfish memory

Katya Shun @ New York Model Management Fashion is, or at least should be, the primary tool to explore things that have been left untouched and sometimes even out of any common sense of imagination. It's even more than reinvention or reinterpretation, more than a playful use of the limits, the borders, the clichés, the concepts. It's like landing on a unexplored territory: references are requested to know where you are and where you're going to but they're simply a part of the whole process and don't really take part of... I wish I were a lollipop

Masha Kirsanova @ Avant (Russia), Viva (Paris), Why Not (Milan) From the underground station to the glossy pages of Flair Italia. Masha Kirsanova was on our wish-list before leaving for Paris in february. We had the feeling she could be among the newcomers who count this season. A flickering of her eyes actually changed our feeling, under the bright white lights in the parisian métro. She's not one of them, she's one of a kind. The kind that knows how sweet and acid go on well together. The kind that knows both are requested to make... [Lire la suite]

Jenny Chalmers @ Independent (London) We were waiting for this to happen since we saw her among the new faces in Independent f/w 08-09 show package. And not to mention that her appearance at Eley Kishimoto did even raise our expectations and love for Jenny. Dreamy look, captivating eyes and the story goes on. Some cuteness all over her character, something poised, made for today's mood and tomorrow's conquestsn. Something quite quiet in her expression, some calm vibe that doesn't stop the excitement for such a striking newcomer.... [Lire la suite]
