This Ain't No Technological Breakdown, This Is The Road [...]

Pauline @ Marilyn (NY) It was quite a hard task to find an editorial topic for the end of this week. Not that the materials were lacking, many things to put our eys on (then off) but was never easy to pick some visuals that go hand in hand with our current inspirations or states of mind. So, had to check and double-check, take ideas where we found them and adapt them to the current editorial pages we found interesting enough to show right now. And it's definitely the last part of the sentence that make sense. Everything (or... [Lire la suite]

Going Through a Motion

Grace @ Factor Women (USA) A new wave of new faces? No way. Just chance that brought us some more digitals right after a full package of dutch newbies. This time, our young lady is coming from the United States and is represented by Factor Women that seemed impatient to introduce her. And that's how Grace ended up gracing FDIB today, a mix of luck and right decision at the best moment. But saying chance is one of the only ingredients would be a mistake, there was certainly something that made Grace stand out from the... [Lire la suite]

On The Wings Of The Nightingale

Merethe Hopland @ Marilyn (NY) Modeling is like silent acting. Regardless if we are talking of stills or motions, it's a performance of replacing words by emotions: the translation of feelings through face's expressions and body language. We'll never repeat this enough times, we'll never get the impression of being broken records when we do so. And precious examples of it are always opportunities of writing priceless entries here. Merethe Hopland by Billy Kidd, inspiration squared. Merethe is the perfect reminder that fresh... [Lire la suite]

Nothing To Hide

Val @ AM Model Management (Germany) Snowy Monday morning, time is running faster than expected. Time in our minds too, as a mix of impatience and excitement. Looking through the window, looking back a little bit then looking forward to the future full force. It's not even December and we'd love to see January knock at the door. It's not even December on the calendar but it's already German Vogue's Dezember issue that we are talking about today. A few pages from an advertorial shot by Lado Alexi featuring Val,... Can't Turn It Off

Imagine a conversation in a bus at the crossroads of city life and countryside. What is a modern approach (in modeling, in fashion for that matter). First good reflex would be to make a proper description of what modern means but we guess this doesn't remain the same from one brain to the other. Maybe the question is what's a suitable approach for our current times but still no clue if that really makes sense. Then the real point of starting like this, is to know what is your own way and how to give enough power to your vision... [Lire la suite]

Find A Way

Lynn Amelie Rage @ PMA (Hamburg) This post was first planned for the end of October or very beginning of November but time went by very fast and events decided of our schedule in a different way. Time went by quite fast as well since our visit to PMA, during a two-days-trip to Hamburg more than one year and a half ago. Still in their former office, in that quiet green area of the city. Since then PMA had achieved what could be the most important step in its story so far, reaching a higher level through a clearer... [Lire la suite]

Fourth

Annabelle Tsaboukas @ Women (NY) Let's cut the chase: sorry for the drama and no, we're not done yet, FDIB is still alive! Just a few busy weeks keeping us away from our usual screen session. This next week is going to be another hectic one so keep being patient a few more days but we should be back for good in December and stay a little longer than Santa Claus. These days are actually a very precious time for us first because of the 4th birthday of FDIB, running full time since late autumn, early winter of... [Lire la suite]

Release The Butterfly

Merethe Hopland @ Joy (Milan), Modelwerk (Hamburg), Elite (London) Sometimes, you know, we are tired of looking like this, you know. Doing what we do, the way we do it. We all need a breathe (or a breeze?) of fresh air to re-energize ourselves and get the necessary strength to move on to new horizons. It often takes a kick, a thrill or whatever (leaving you the choice of the vocable here) to look to the future. Getting back on tracks, back to basics yet never looking back without denying what the legacy of... [Lire la suite]

Who Am I: Where You Are

Projects are going their ways, taking different forms after starting from the same roots. Everything always evolves for the simple reason it has to evolve one way or another. Or disappear, or lose its spark and interest. It's better then to go for an evolution, slow or spectacular. A transformation, a metamorphosis. Fashion can appear as static for a couple of months or seasons, never more. As soon as you understood this parameter, you have to adapt and adjust. Move forward, step away from any kind of systematic mechanism.... [Lire la suite]

Young Hearts Are Free (The SELECTion)

Maaike, Amy, Ellie, Frida, Lottie, Katie, Nia, Nadia, Cassie and Odile Coco @ Select (London) At this exact moment (writing this piece) we're still hesitating between two distinct titles. Usual dilemma, less usual feature. Shall we go for the inspiration of the moment, which would be Young Hearts Are Free or something like that. Or for the nickname we gave to the project while working on it: The SELECTion. Because that's where our hesitation is, between putting emphasis... [Lire la suite]
