Independent spirit

Indiamara @ IMG Loved Rodarte's outfits and casting -- especially a thrilling triad made of Juana @ NY Models, Malu @ Women Direct and the girl who's going to haunt this post: Indiamara @ IMG. Pretty atypical look for an IMG-girl and second time in a row the international powerhouse takes us by surprise this season. We were smitten by Lindsay at Alexander Wang, we almost fainted after seeing how Indiamara was perfect for Rodarte's show. The mood was quite lighter, hence the heavy need for dark/moody young ladies to enhance the... [Lire la suite]

FDIB loves and bookmarks: Jett @ Elite's blog

Jett @ Elite (NY) Most of times, before a season starts we try to gather a few info on the girls we like and consider as serious contenders for the shows. This time we did it less than usual and might have been right in the end. Unpredictable casting choices and newbies out of the blue were the biggest attractions of the week so far. Count Othilia starting out of nowhere at BCBG and keeping the pace at Philosophy a few days later, Alicia Kuczman (on FDIB tonight!!), Coco Young @ Eskimo doing Marc Jacobs on special request,... Gosees and Gambles

Kirsi Pyrhonen @ Brand (Finland), Viva (Paris, London) NY fashion week is close to its end already and London is getting more attention again, as usual. Gosees and castings have already started and, without frankly speaking of frenzy, it's starting to buzz on the other side of the Channel. Brand Model Management (from Helsinki but was probably needless to add) has/will have no less than 4 girls in town. Each with her own profile, assets and career plans. Maybe the latter is the most interesting if we consider Brand's... [Lire la suite]

She's got black nail varnish (but you don't see it)

Maaike Klaasen @ SPS (The Netherlands) Mighty Maaike exploring her fragile side with a leather jacket ? It's possible and even on polaroids. Contrasts are often the best way to put some more emphasis on a certain look or features you'd like to highlight for a specific reason. If we're always looking for polaroids of any girl we introduce or write an update on, it's quite not that often we manage to get rock-solid quality materials. Perfect polas need to respect the usual rules (no make-up, for example -- just... [Lire la suite]

Marc Up

Georgia Hilmer @ Next (NY) We can always swear and swear again we'll try to steer clear from the show season. We've never managed to do so and this new season has already proved it again. Well, is it even possible to look at show packages (even for five minutes) without spotting one or two favorites among the newbies ? Impossible, for us at least. Browsing Next cards, we came across one girl, one look, one name (besides our favorite from last season - Valerija Kelava). We probably found more darling on... [Lire la suite]

Oxford Circus, Moscow

Nathalie @ Aquarelle (Russia) Had no clue Oxford Circus was now in Moscow. Quite kidding but quite serious as well. Creativity finally hit the Russian capital and seems to grow and grow again out there. Same in a couple more east-european countries, talented young photographers start to emerge and help local agencies build powerful portfolios before sending their young ladies abroad. Latest one we had the opportunity to discovered is called Roma Milova who works in Moscow and did a... [Lire la suite]

Eastern Chic

Marta Zaleska @ Eastern (Poland) We did a short report on Marta based on a few of her first snaps two weeks ago. Smelled potential, saw it, featured her - the usual way. After getting signed with Eastern Models through their contest, the young 5'9 beauty got her first round of test shots including the two above. A teaspoon of kitsch mixed to her naturally spooky yet sparky gaze and the magic is on.  Eighties vibe all the way, perfectly matching Marta's modern beauty-type (read: classic with a twist... yeah, classic... Wichita

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) We could do it but we're not going to wax on Wixson this morning. Let's put it simple and direct to the point and leave the lyrical mood for another day. We could go on for hours it seems, we could go endlessly. From first polas we got from Marilyn NY last Summer to meeting her for five seconds after Miu Miu to the news pouring these days... our interest in Lindsey's career never stopped to grow, our love for her look never found any of the usual limits, our respect for her work is too high to compare.... Kathlyn on the Radar

Kathlyn @ MJ (Estonia) Discovered last summer in a small estonian village by MJ Models, mother agency of Karmen Pedaru, Kathlyn might not be the tallest girl around yet (172 but 14, growing growing), she had enough power and potential to catch all our attention at the minute we saw her digitals. As we put emphasis on development quite strongly, being able to watch a much promising newcomer from her early days and see how she improves is quite a privilege. Kathlyn proves us it's still possible to surprise... [Lire la suite]

Snowball effect

Nastya Kraule @ Profile (London) When we were supposed to do our update on Nastya, her flight from Paris to London got cancelled because of snow. But it takes much more than a snowstorm to stop that cool girl from Latvia. Finally arrived at Profile after spending time on the other side of the Channel, hardworking. But London should love her at least as much as Paris. Or even more, we'd say. With that gamine look of hers, perfect model proportions and a height of 5'10 (178) she would be loved absolutely everywhere. And with a... [Lire la suite]
