Tough Cookie

Julia Hafstrom @ IMG (NY) Saturday, editorial day. Back to redhead love. Julia Hafstrom, unusual beauty type with a slightly classic edge. Not the tallest girl around and not the endlessly leggy kind. As unconvetional as the description sounds, it has never prevent Julia from booking first-class jobs and building a highly remarkable portfolio. Her modeling story started with Prada and she kept the level at the same height with some Vogue Italia story by Steven Meisel. Easy beginnings, magical pictures. Latest piece to hit her... Papier Culte

Anna De Rijk @ Viva (Paris) 2010 finally gave us some (good) reasons to get excited again about magazines. Late 2009 didn't bring the contents we're usually looking for and we started visiting our favorite bookstores a bit less often, asking ourselves if it's due to the end of the year or the end of that precise year. Never took (had) time to think twice and never got our answer, good pages striked back before. Even in Vogue Paris. As much as we appreciate the overall mood of this magazine, castings over there aren't always our cup... [Lire la suite]

On & On

Anya Yagushkina @ LMA (Russia) Imaging. Packaging. Rebranding. Revamping. And on, and on, and on. Changing the strategy a little bit to increase the chances to hit your very own goal. That's all what matter to us in the end, after taking enough time to think twice. Allowing yourself to give more time to such thoughts is luxury and we know it. That's what keeps us working. On, and on, and on. That's our current - and future - focus. And as we're talking about future, just have a quick look at Anya, 5'10 from LMA Models pictured by... [Lire la suite]

Q/A: FDIB + Chadwick Tyler feat. Gwen Loos

Gwen Loos @ Marilyn (NY) Fashion Does It Better: What role plays inspiration in your work and what's the weight of technique in the process ? Chadwick Tyler: A basic requirement for any good photographer, of course, is that they have good technique, that they know how to take a picture, that they know how to manipulate light and that they understand composition. But as so many students of prestigious art schools learn, there are scores of people who can master good technique. One also needs a profound source of inspiration.... [Lire la suite]

Modern Mythology

Avalon @ Ragazza Model Management (The Netherlands) She looks sweet as silk and as sleek as soft but the latest pictures we got of her told us she also rocks and rolls. With a name like Avalon, it's not hard to make her a little piece in your memory. With a face like hers, it becomes even much easier and with what we know now of her modeling skills... the lovely ragazza is seeing her status rising. If you were waiting for a brand new version of the beloved "classic with a twist", Avalon is your girl.... [Lire la suite]

A Brand New Anu

Anu Koski @ Brand (Finland) A new book for a new look is usually a decent and honest recipe to push a career a little further. But a new book with several new looks goes definitely far beyond the regular expectations of a few months of development. Or is it time to set new standards ? At least, that's the way Brand Model Management sees their business and we can agree on this point. More materials of a higher quality and broader diversity. Anu was sent in Seoul to build her book and improve her modeling skills. She... [Lire la suite]

A-Listable

Alina Jukova @ Image Discovery (Ukraine) Who said that image and money are two different things ? Well, they are but are that far away from each other ? We guess not and Alina Jukova gave us another clue. Surely, her latest tests from Tokyo are the kind of pieces that keep building the myth of the sleek, (mini) high-fashion model. There might be a commercial edge to the two pieces above yet it's far from being their most striking part. Though, seen as a whole, Alina's young career might be one of the best recent example... Meet Loli !

Loli @ Yes Models (Romania) Loli is on our radar since last month - which also means last year and last decade, no less. But don't get fooled by easy number games, truth is what you see on the three pictures above: a young lady, fresh face and a story turned to the future. No blast from the past in Loli's early story. Spotted by Yes Model Management, the 5'9 (176) Romanian is already placed in New York and seems to like the camera, pulling out this lovely mix of free-and-easy vibes and distant... [Lire la suite]

Ronnie Talk(ed) to Russia

Magdalena Frackowiak @ DNA (NY) Saw the cover and thought of some eighties oldies. Especially Ronnie, talk to Russia by German one-hit-wonder of 1988 (not sure, might be 87 or 89) Sheree. A young lady, an american flag and the end of Cold War coming soon. Our childhood, our history as well. A little more than twenty years later came that picture with no link to all these stories but one thing remains nonetheless. The aesthetic, the way Europeans see (and dream of) USA, apart from those french people that keep seeing greasy hamburgers... [Lire la suite]

Made in Germany

Anne Sophie Monrad @ Modelwerk (Hamburg), Ford (NY) Made in Germany. These words often stands for quality, no matter what the topic is. It's well-known, and most of times, well said because truth is german products are often...well, well done. We're not talking about products, though, or if one product is in the spotlight today it might be a service: Modelwerk's precise and precious management. But the real heart of this story, you understood it, is the girls themselves. Made in Germany, then and made in Modelwerk, actually. Anne... [Lire la suite]
