Fashion does it Better

Keep Love Alive

Allaire Heisig @ Ford (NY) Bittersweet thoughts come and go and take your mood so high, so low. Like the wave following the moon that the shore will always seem to ignore. Lonely dreams are for lonely dreamers but feed the inspiration and keep love alive, through years and against fate, taking the strangest ways not to go off on a tangent. Love has no price and especially no pride, and for whoever believes time is on his side. Might be such a strange intro for a post dedicated to a girl who lightheartedly started... [Lire la suite]

The Alternative

Allaire Heisig @ Ford (NY) You never see much when you get too close to the (spot-)lights and same should be true for fashion week as well. You never know as less as when you actually attend it, when you concentrate too much on the moment and get caught by the rush. That's how you might miss a couple of details you would have seen sitting at your desk, watching carefully everything. But hey, a little (and that was actually a lot) of action doesn't hurt or if it does, it's for good reasons. So, during the whole New York coverage we... [Lire la suite]

Melodie @ Wilhelmina (NY) and Anais @ Ford (NY) Sometimes you say too much, sometimes not enough. Same here, sometimes we write too much and sometimes words are simply lacking. Words are friends some days and enemies the next morning and all this vicious circle makes hard to find the right balance. Trying to, though and we guess it happens we work it out. Drop by drop, fighting sleepless nights and meaningless dreams with the best sides of our imagination, maybe that's where the path starts and it's up to us to... [Lire la suite]

Frozen Tears

Valeria Kelava @ Ford (NY), Oui (Paris) Ending the season with a flawless week in Paris from Balenciaga to Miu Miu, from Givenchy to Louis Vuitton, from Rick Owens to Viktor & Rolf, from Giambattista Valli to Kenzo and sorry for the ones we've had to skipped, they would be worth a mention too. Flawless show-list and a good editorial kick to keep it all sky-high. Two stories in Vogue Italia's October issue would be enough to write a note even with no shows to back it up but the combination of both can be considered as an... [Lire la suite]

6 Months, 6 Nights

Megija Kenina @ 2B Models (Latvia), Ford (NY) You may not see any connection between Deimante and Megija, and even if there were none at all it wouldn't stop the modeling world from going on. And on, and on again. Only a few will immediately remember Megija too, made her first steps in front of Natalie Berzina's camera. But that's already quite a good little while ago and the landscape in New York's tiny agencies-world has dramatically changed since we first saw Megija Kenina in Riga, something like... Veranika @ AL Models, Ford (NY) Had to share that, needed to post it for personal and more general reasons. For everything to make sense next week and to leave with strong materials for this long weekend. We would have several possibilites, several potentially thrilling features to end the day but Maxim Repin's video featuring Veranika Antsipava in a way you've never seen her before. If the model/photographer combo seems an obvious match, the choice of Veranika for that type of atmosphere sounds like a less easy idea and you'll learn... [Lire la suite]

The 2 2 Watch

Madeleine Lundmark @ FM (London) High season, low season and in between, the latter being the most interesting to us when all the agencies of all four cities are getting their new "weapons" ready for the victory. Everyone has his own recipe, every idea is good to hear and every strategy has its advantages. It's no secret we particularly appreciate the work done at FM Models in London, it's not surprise then to see two girls from them being featured here again. And we've got a few good reasons to be excited about... [Lire la suite]

Craisy Daisy, Lovely Luisa

Luisa @ Ford (NY) After facing full-force wintertime for weeks and weeks, got some summer vibe today. And Granny came to visit us at the office, trying to kill us with Dior perfume. No... that's not exactly the story we want to tell but craziness is the keyword in both Luisa's story and ours. Sit down and read carefully. Luisa arrived with her mother agent from Viva Berlin yesterday. 6pm, New York City, cold weather. She's there to visit all the agencies and stops by Ford. The rest is already history. At 6.30pm Luisa signs. Too late... [Lire la suite]

The Edge

Polina Sova @ Ford (NY) The other day, when we woke up in the mooorning light, we pulled on our jeans and we felt alright... and thought about this word, (too?) much used in the modeling world: edgy. What does this (still) mean ? Got the same in french, same use so, we started thinking of it in french first to come to the conclusion it truly exists but maybe the way it's used today (and yesteryear) is slightly imperfect. Not completely misused but too fastly said somehow. As we don't want it to lose... [Lire la suite]

Broken words can mend

Charlene Almarvez @ Ford (NY) We often think, even say (and write) that the word "supermodel" became slightly pointless these days. Though, we were slightly wrong. Or maybe we should take it , for what it seems to be now: a trademark of Ford's worldwide contest. Supermodel of the World. Leave the trinity and the glorious moments to the era they belong and give this word a modern meaning. Finally. If it still refers to huge exposure and high level, if the sky remains the limit, the new breed of... [Lire la suite]
