Fashion does it Better

Open that other door

Babies like salad and they never turn back, unlike this guy we'll foil, we'll check his back door and, then, turn our heads, looking at another grey sea, looking at another bright moon fucking the sun, hard, yelling the yellow one is just another fool looking for cheap sensations. We do not care, we do not swear, we are free souls lost in a desert ocean. Fulfil it, pour water on our dirty dreams, leak, drip, slow storms that make no noise around are among the favorites of ours, do, then. Pour. Don't you see the open hands, lurking... [Lire la suite]

We Hear Violins, You Know What It Means

At this stage it's not a show package anymore or a show-doc as we say in Paris, it's a symphony. From every point of view: the pace, the music, the visuals running in front of your eyes when you're watching this (not-so) short movie, literally stuck to your screen. Video packages are getting more and more popular these days and each agency might have its own version of the excercise, trying themselves at it with more or less success. IMG probably worked it out perfectly on one point at least: the way it pictures the agency,... [Lire la suite]

Hundred Percent

Freja Beha Erichsen @ IMG (Paris) Not going to give detailed explanations on why there haven't been more updates these last seven days so let's just say Summer and being busy doesn't help releasing creativity when it comes to writing long articles. Also agencies are either already on holidays or looking forward to close their doors for a small vacation (the remaining ones are working hard and we're always here to work hand in hand with any of them). So, it's not going to be a brand new face arriving out of nowhere who... [Lire la suite]

Very Veroni

Veroni @ iD Model Management (The Netherlands) It was planned this way and, for once, we stuck to our initial plans which were featuring Miranda and Veroni at the beginning of this week. Classic beauties with a twist might be a well-known concept already and there is no real surprise in highlighting this again but it can be easily transformed and expressed in several different ways. Hence the idea of having Miranda's and Veroni's features back to back and that's the interesting part in talking about this... [Lire la suite]

Hide & Seek

Sharon Van De Pas @ IMG (NY) It takes a Friday afternoon, allergies and a good shower, countless cups of coffee to get back to these topics we've been working on for weeks waiting for better words and a better moment than in between two other features to publish them. Among these topics was Coco Young's second part, there was also Sharon Van De Pas by James Mahon. Pictures were waiting for a few weeks already, if not more and we wouldn't exaggerate saying we thought of them every single day since they hit... [Lire la suite]

No Fuss

Tabea @ IMG (NY) Could be one of these entries with our homemade cheesy titles like "Love is all what matters" and actually at the moment we're writing these lines we have no clue on what the title would look (sound) like. Might go for that cheap romantic vibe, just to get out of the drama. So, things are pretty official now if you check out Tabea's book on IMG's website (gorgeous book, by the way) but this is not really what we want to comment on today. Don't want to say it's good or bad, don't... [Lire la suite]

A Matter of Labels

Delphie What do you do when you have five minutes free while working on a Sunday ? Go to the bookshop at the train station and check out what new magazines they have in store. And as far as we remember, only French Elle and a couple more french glossies with no guarantee to find a nice one. Though, this week's Elle was pretty interesting (visually, as we haven't read one word yet). Most interesting part was probably their "new faces" topic, called "future top models". A bit awkward, of course, but always raising some interesting... [Lire la suite]

A Progressive Approach

Brings us back to Paris, last day before leaving and last meeting of the season. IMG is always on the top of our to-do-list when we're in town and development is always the heart of our conversations. Went through various topics around the main one and the most interesting part was certainly agencies blogs. What they do and what they should rather be. Communication rather promotion, staying true to the agency's aesthetic and vision. And guess what, that's exactly what IMG did a few weeks after we went back. Launching their... [Lire la suite]

Whitney's World

Whitney Jensen @ Echo Models / IMG Discovered by US boutique agency Echo Models not so long ago and recently arrived at IMG -- Paris first, and she was certainly one of the eye-catchers among the newbies of their Fall 2010 show package. Endless legs meet the sweetest face that can actually pull out a large palette of expressions and emotions in front of the camera, and you've got a pretty portrait of Whitney Jensen in a few words only. Though, when we are impressed we are definitely impressed and thought... [Lire la suite]

The Modelmakers

Xenia Micsanschi @ Mandarina (Romania) Any mother agent considering himself as a model supplier would seriously misunderstand his role in today's process of finding then developing new talents for market such as Paris or New York. And we'd like to insist on the development part, too often considered as belonging to the american or french agency's duties and not to the mother agent's field of action. It's one thing to scout high-potential teenagers who might have their chances in fashion, it's a totally different... [Lire la suite]
