We love Interview's short stories, maybe more than its main ones lately despite the high quality of those. Agnes Sokolowska's laundrette pictures were our highlights and delights some weeks ago, a twisted swimsuit series bringing to the table a new view on sweet summer sweatdrops. Fashion: youth culture and cult of youth, a teaspoon of faux punk and DIY appeal done by somebody else. Young is to some magazines what glamour is to Vogue and in both cases hearts often fail to find a balance between geniune and gimmicky. And pretty ironical is how youth is so much of an obsession while so few young creatives get a real chance. Models are young, yeah, sometimes too green and we'd love them older, while photographers tend to get old while the younger ones are either starving shooting test images in their parody of... We have to thank Jack Nicholson for the reminder, after watching The Pledge (Sean Penn, 2001) yesterday late at night, the urge to go back to The Shining suddenly rose in our minds and that's how our eyes got caught by Shelley Duvall's uncanny and arousing features. We literally became like mosquitos (re-)discovering a lamp on a summer evening. She was the ghost from the lift when we were kids, she is the fantasies of our late evenings now. She is no model but is more relevant as a model than Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer together on a Vogue cover. She is... Nina Hagen and we had to look twice before realizing she was really she, when had a first look at the cover, thought at early sight she may be another nameless face painted in Nina before looking twice and no doubt was possible: this is the real, the unique, the unmistakable Miss Hagen. Seized in our eyes she is. And we'd love to fly with her nights and days. Because she's got wings and we'd love to borrow them one day or another, just to see if the world is less boring from above. She at least can turn Versace totally heavenly. One mile high will be enough. Shame we couldn't see more of her face but we can already collapse in delight while reading her body language. On the backseat of a camper van, laid a woman with vanished charms, and her lover with his neverending smile, neverending glasses, neverending behinds and betweens. I was waiting for a knock, waiting for a sign. All I've been able to witness was a merry comedy, with a bit of tear in every single eye.
