Never Throw the Baby Out with the Bathwater

Just the morning we were complaining about the lack of Lindsey Wixson in magazines today – too many high-end catalogues yet to few more 'daring' editorial stuff – came the cover and story from ODDA Magazine, a bi-annual publication that had to steal our heart this week for its relevant choice. The theme of this tenth issue is Tribute and it was about time we pay ours to this game-changer who brought back the fun mood in fashion modeling. First noticed for this uncanny mouth of hers (and overall unique features), she has... [Lire la suite]

Erautism

I'm losing even what I've never had, in a grin, in a simple glimpse. No more salty water drips from the eye, only coaldust flying from lashes to the heavy air of the room. Not many lights still burn and the smooth smell of smoke floats around like a river flows around the rocks, moving in circles, curls, curves. Shadows are our shadiest shelter, the comfort zone never to be taken for granted or real as all tricks may be lurking around the dead angle next door. Darkness, though, fuels our lust for colors, for lids-closed... [Lire la suite]

Pearless

Pears taste so far, far away. Glitzy stones won't replace the fruity smell of flesh fallen from a lovely tree but we can try, we can stand the ache in our bodies, our bones, our chests, and indulge our eyes instead of grabbing the last syringe alive. Familiar names to warm up our always colder hears: Lindsey Wixson, the fishy goddess from Kansas, the golden witch from Wichita and Sophia Neophitou who could turn a stray dog into a fashion icon. The rain is hitting hard as we drop these lines, the sun moved away and the... [Lire la suite]

They All Need A Star

Kristina Salinovic @ Women (NY), Daphne Groeneveld @ Supreme (NY) and Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) Months and years come (and go somehow). And we grew up too old to make ourselves fools for mistaken love (or devotion). Inspiration is like months and years and comes and goes and comes back in the end for whoever is patient enough to wait and work. To people who considers this story and especially cover as a letdown from Steven Meisel and Vogue Italia we can only answer the perfromance is far from bad and that it's impossible to... Take The Chance, For a Brand New Wild Romance

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) and Nimue Smit @ Women (NY) Mulberry's aesthetic and Tim Walker's visual world are a perfect match and it almost goes without saying. But not without seeing and the new ad campaign didn't fail to catch our attention, featuring Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit. It's all light-hearted, full of pastel pink yet radiating true romanticism or in other words: behind the pretty aspect you should find a certain kind of intensity you don't necessarily expect from such pictures. Whether you... [Lire la suite]

Romantic Warrior

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) Fashion week frenzy goes on and it seems we keep heading to another direction... to get back to it later. First interesting things, first expectations (not ours) coming true or not, first days and a few more ahead of everyone before the craziness flies to London and so on. We are rather turning to our latest magazine buys than commenting on first shows results and actually we found much more to say on AnOther Magazine than on what's happening on the runways so far.... // Parallel Lines //

Abbey Lee Kershaw @ Next, cover by Richard Prince styled by Tamara Rothstein. Bottom left you can see a little scar on the magazine that travelled a lot before arriving at home here. Got POP in hands, finally found it in town. It took a while till it arrived at our local bookstore but it's here, big and beautiful. Our copy suffered a little from travelling to our half-godforsaken city but it's still amazing to have it, smell it, read it, look at it over and over again. A magazine really becomes a magazine the day you can touch ... [Lire la suite]

Cabs for Cuties*

Jac @ IMG, in Numéro 111 by Miguel Reveriego as scanned by elsaskywalker from thefashionspot.com Exclusive. That little word with a long meaning and a variable definition. How does a girl become exclusive. From many mouthes, you will hear by "signing an exclusivity contract with a brand" and they might be yelling it at you as if it was the most obvious thing on earth. Well, this is a kind of exclusivity as it prevents the model from working with anyone else for the whole duration of that contract. But does it really... [Lire la suite]

Wichita

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) We could do it but we're not going to wax on Wixson this morning. Let's put it simple and direct to the point and leave the lyrical mood for another day. We could go on for hours it seems, we could go endlessly. From first polas we got from Marilyn NY last Summer to meeting her for five seconds after Miu Miu to the news pouring these days... our interest in Lindsey's career never stopped to grow, our love for her look never found any of the usual limits, our respect for her work is too high to compare.... Countryside, Countrywide ?

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) Moody pout plus melancholic gaze and endless legs are the first thing you may notice on the runway when Lindsey walks. Vivid and playful attitude is what catch your attention once she goes backstage and the portrait is far from finished. Her book was carefully build with the helping hands (and cameras) of James Mahon or Marilyn's Dean Rodgers among others, capturing every single side of Lindsey's potential but leaving untouched the biggest part of the mystery. We started to discover more of... [Lire la suite]
