Fashion does it Better

When the Skies are Grey

As kids, when the borders were still fences and it wasn't such an easy deal to cross the big river just to get some cheaper ciggies, we used to think the sky looked different in german cities than in our french hometown. A greater grey, we should say, grey like expensive pearls, soft and smooth with a slight touch of wholesome melancholy echoing the pavents of their broaders streets and more recent buildings, a grey that used to turn pigeons into divas taken away from their red carpet and green leaves into colorful witnesses...           Valerija Kelava @ Next Valerija Kelava hasn't only managed to work out her second flawless show season in a row and doesn't only get one editorial after the other, she also knows how to add that supplement of soul one needs to leave a real mark in modeling. Treating each piece of her works like a true performance (both expressions and body language are beyond breathtaking absolutely everytime and everywhere) and she's refreshing classics or basics from gothic moods to nudes. Last piece is also... [Lire la suite]

Russell's march

Katlin Aas @ EMA (Estonia), Marilyn (New York, Paris), Women (Milan) Take it as a bonus track from our preview on Lexposure, taken from Numéro 106. Katlin Aas by Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello, in a garden. Katlin's career so far looks like a bed of roses or a pleasure cruise and all she got was golden opportunities. Sounds idyllic ? Looks idyllic too. From her early days at her mother agency EMA Models in Estonia, with her lighter hair to Christopher Kane, Prada and Miu Miu, it seems she took a direct line to the... Numéro girl Number eight

Kori Richardson @ IMG (NY), IMG (Paris), IMG (London) She's this girl moving step by step with each step being a royal one. Think of Another Magazine, Dazed & Confused and now Numéro as the editorial side of the story and the likes of Miu Miu, Lanvin or Chanel on her runway list. She's also the girl who's hard to describe. Hard to put words on her kind of beauty, hard to explain what makes her appeal very special, hard to say it's in her features themselves or the result of her attitude in front of the camera. Maybe a bit of... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number seven

Ali Michael @ DNA (NY), Viva (Paris), Viva (London) Ali's eye-brows went notorious in less time than you would need to think about it. Sure, they might be her most eye-catching feature and a part of what makes her often very expressive in her editorials. Her work with Paolo Roversi is a perfect example. Though, our favorite part of her book so far could be her collaborations with some of our beloved photographers like Vanina Sorrenti (for Numéro Tokyo) and especially KT Auleta (for both i-D and Vogue Russia). Ali went through... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number six

Constance Jablonski @ Marilyn (NY), Elite (Paris) A sculptural, square and slightly asymmetrical jawline as a trademark, fitting Marilyn NY's current aesthetic along with girls like Tabea Kobach and a S/S 09 season that left a strong memory. From Donna Karan to Diane Von Furstenberg in NY, followed by a thrilling trilogy in London (Christopher Kane, Jaeger and Armand Basi), some selective bookings in Milan and an explosive week in Paris (ruling it from Nina Ricci to Lanvin). Comparison with allegedly similar-looking models were... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number five

Ali Stephens @ Elite (NY), Marilyn (Paris) Back to the expressive Ali, the one we love and who doesn't need to try hard to bring feelings to a picture. The right touch, the right gaze, the right pose. The magical Ali. We'll never have enough ink to write everything about this and the two only-lonely pictures of the editorial might actually be enough to get what we mean. And also enough to forget how she put her heart and soul in a story she probably weren't made for while she's effortlessly striking in these two black and white... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number four

Adina Forizs @ IMG (NY, London, Milan, Paris) Adina's back on glossy pages and it's in Numéro 98. Adina is hiding her mind behind a cigarette or her face behind her hand. It seems she's been hiding a bit during Paris fashion week as well even if the only place we managed to meet her was simply one of our favorite shows, Manish Arora. And if you think of her previous steps being Antonio Marras - another casting we always love - as well as Pollini or Burberry Prorsum you have a more than decent line-up in Milan. If you check even... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number three

Myf Shepherd @ Next (NY), Next (Paris) Innocent or iconic ? Ingénue or ironical ? Impossibly incredible, anyway. That's how we see Myf and how we've seen Myf after Miu Miu. Huge smile, teeth for days. Unforgettable moment. Was raining, very slightly, models were going out one by one like raindrops and the last model-street-style-photographers (the real-and-rash ones) were waiting around the door. Then came a raindrop called Myf and while some others had nothing to show than their most tired pout ever, Myf smiled with all her might... [Lire la suite]

Numéro girl Number two

Evelina Mambetova @ Supreme (NY) If Darya was finally an obvious choice to open our feature on the new girls from Numéro, Evelina's name came immediately after. The first one was striking, the second is charming. Her eyes seem to be the most captivating part of Evelina until you discover her with eyes-closed.  Unmatched grace. Delicate and intriguing, from seismic gaze to serenity, Supreme's ballerina also knows the way to rock it hard. In her usual subtle softness...
