Fashion does it Better

Prada Talking feat. The Girl Who Sails Across The Wind

Viktoriya Sasonkina @ Women (NY) Twice on the cover and thrice inside, she's a Vogue Italia girl who's hard to hide. Taking part of the Prada ads and Alberta Ferretti for the second time in a row. Building up her portfolio the same selective way she booked her shows, only the best ones and the best for her, where she'll hit the target eyes-closed. Well, better keep them open as they're a huge part of her appeal if not exactly what you can't overlook. One of our previous post on her was called "Eye-catching eyes" and we thought... You can run, you can't run away from Toni

Toni Garrn @ Joy (Milan), Women (NY), Modelwerk (Hamburg) It's almost incredible how many times we heard comments on Toni Garnn being topless in Vogue Italia since last issue, also by Steven Meisel. Some people consider her as too young for this. We don't. Each his own of course and it's up to everyone to have his own point on this. All we can say is there is no voyeurism, even less pornography in any of these pictures. November or December issue. Maybe it's just us, what we see with our very own eyes. All we see, then, is a young... [Lire la suite]

Toni Toni and the double dilemma

Toni Garrn @ Joy (Milan), Women (NY), Modelwerk (Germany) It's Vogue Italia's newest issue and we are all turning our head to... Germany. German girls on the cover and in the main editorial by Steven Meisel. Hot news, hard topic actually. Would be easier today to pick some girls from Sergey Nagorny's website and say how great they are instead of doing this. It's quite interesting nonetheless. Trying to analyse why Toni get our attention while both her and Katrin Thormann are on the cover. It's always heartbreaking, though. Don't... [Lire la suite]

Mine de rien...

Mina Cvetkovic @ Women (NY), Women (Milan), Women (Paris) The polaroids that made our day. We've started thinking about a few lines on Mina when we saw her walking for Anna Sui last month. Was such a great surprise and a very refreshing choice. We simply adore Mina and strongly believe we're not the only ones. Besides Anna Sui, her S/S 09 season includes no less than Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Sonia Rykiel and Yves Saint Laurent. Put together, it looks like one of the most impressive show line-ups of this fall.... [Lire la suite]

TMSRRE part 16: Aline

Aline Weber @ One (NY) She's having a flawless season on every front. Editorials and runways. Would be impossible to pick our favorite show pictures or decide which one was more important for her career. Let's say almost every single catwalk appearance was worth a few lines. From NY to Paris, including Milan and London with a special mention to her british bookings. How could we choose between the way she works out heavy make-up and her natural elegance with much lighter one ? Almost impossible again. Our favorite might be her look... [Lire la suite]

Yuki makes the superstar

Viktoriya Sasonkina @ Women (NY) Not really, actually. More seriously, Steven Meisel is closer to the status of superstar-maker, if the concept of superstar or even star is still close to be relevent. Well, we can't totally deny the fact that gracing the cover of Vogue Italia is a major improvement in a girl's career. At least, an awesome upheaval most of times. Some ways are short, some girls seem to take the direct line to it. Some others are playing second roles in the shadows, waiting for some... [Lire la suite]

She'll let us take her home

Viktoriya Sasonkina @ Women (NY) This is a last minute change on our schedule. We initially planned to leave at 5.30pm and we checked our mail inbox a last time before switching off the computer. 5.28pm and checking. Saw only one unread mail, read the title "Viktoriya @..." then knew this might be big. Rushed to open it. Opened it. Saw the dozen of !!!!. Scrolled down and saw VOGUE. Viktoriya. The glance, the gloss, the glass. The most unique cover for us. Ever.

Jourdan Dunn @ Women (NY) We still think it would have had more impact to release a Black Issue in september... there is one thing that surely doesn't disappoint us: it offers an incredible opportunity to an incredible model. Jourdan Dunn. After a topnotch season, peaked at Prada, she deserved something that big in her portfolio. She deserved a major cover and we're more than glad it's actually a Meisel moment. After all, the concept doesn't really matter as long as you can see one of the best model getting more exposure. We always... [Lire la suite]

Anabela @ AL Models, IMG It's time to say she's more than a teenie-queenie now. Her editorial power has grown slowly yet the best way possible, adding each time a serious extra to her book. From the desinterested look in Vogue Nippon to the snobbish vibe of her looks in Harper's Bazaar, she's been playing with all the different sides of her potential (and what to think about her own V#53 performance ?). While some models can stick brilliantly to a definite role, some others are just excellent when it comes to show their... [Lire la suite]

Kitten and kitchen: kitties go kitsch

Siri Tollerod @ Joy Models (Milan), Trump Model Management (NY) Miles Aldridge isn't among our favorite photographer for no reasons, no blind love in this case. We're always thankful to him to keep the real and beautiful kitsch alive. The colorful, dramatic, poetic kitsch full of useless details that make the pictures even much stronger. Pictures as pictures. Kitties are stranded between dreams and nightmares, Siri Tollerod is the perfect character crossing this unreal world of old furniture and wallpapers without... [Lire la suite]
