Sao Paulo s/s 08: first impressions
I was waiting for it and thought this day will never come... Finally I've seen the first collections of the other Brazilian fashion week. I was so excited, especially after all those great shows in Rio. First ones haven't disappointed and the following ones are my favorites so far !
Fause Haten. I've been surprised and delighted by the way he used a topic that could have been stamped as "Circus" or "Clowns". That's indeed plenty of elegant clowns, not to mention his menswear pieces worn by models with clown noses. Dresses were marvelous, was it this short dress with a clown portrait printed, this amazing white dress built in different levels and volumes, not to mention the short green dress worn with silver ballerinas.
Alexandre Herchcovitch. Subtlety über alles ! Far better than some of his previous collections, this may also appear as based on the same kind of topics as Fause Haten. He plays successfully with shapes and volumes, deconstructed and structured pieces mixed together in one outfit, uses black and intense red combining something serious, maybe sad with some twists and effects.
Forum could have been a resort collection in New York if it wasn't in Sao Paulo... No, more seriously, the main difference with most resort shows is maybe in its natural decontraction, it's an "easier" collection. Not easier to wear, easier to see. Sounds a bit strange what I'm saying, maybe it's better to check the clothes themselves...
I'm in love with Osklen s/s 08. Maybe one of my favorite collections ever. It's surprising. No, it's stunning. No, it's breathtaking. No, it just leaves me breathless. Hats, I love hats and there is daring and darling hats from the first to the last outfit. I was amazed by the first pieces and didn't expect this white or creme colors to turn into rainbows in the second part of the collection. And then you just don't expect black and you think you didn't expect anything at all...
Tereza Santos. Fresh sensuality with a touch of innocence are the first words I want to use to describe this collection. Fabiana Semprebom opens the show with a translucent blue top and red lipstick, it gives the tune and the rythm. It's plenty of subtle color games, shapes and structures yummy tricks, perfect use of glossy, glam and glitter, metallic fabrics and so on...
Let's close this review with Uma and the fabulous echo between the set and the garments. Purple and fireworks, not a bad way to leave and think of what I'm going to see tomorrow !
