10th Annual Avant Guardian

 

It's until july 9th, it's made for young talented photographers and it's the beginning of blossoming careers. For the 10th time now, Surface magazine is organizing the Annual Avant Guardian contest to promote a new generation of fashion photographers. Those who will be selected are going to work for the magazine and will take benefits from its networks. They will be featured in Surface's Avant Guardian issue (highlighting a huge porftfolio dedicated to their work) to be released in october and that will be review here as well.
To give another kick to this next generation of artists will be a traveling exhibition starting in NY, continuing with LA and Miami. Sure, this tour will give them an extra exposure as it's highly watched by influential people among the fashion industry.
As we are highly concerned by fashion photography and especially by the newest, the most promising photographers and as our vision of fashion photography is that it has to be both inventive and commercial, we wanted to support this project claiming one of their most important criteria is "a successful blend of artistic concept with market potential ".

The contest is open to participants working or studying in the US or Canada. Deadline july 9th 2007.
