The s/s 08 Red Head issue

Red alerts and freckle frenzy are back here after a s/s 08 season with some nice little surprises. As always, I'd say. Redheads come and go in the fashion industry with some unexpected newcomers, some unexpected come-backs and unfortunately some others who disappeared, sometimes for one season, sometimes for quite long. For example: where is Jacqueline Keller ? No idea. She did Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc one year ago, then rather disappeared, only saw a few tests and a few steps on Vena Cava f/w 07-08, then nothing. Sure, she's still young and may come-back in a few seasons if it's not next one. A bit like Anna Arendshorst did. After a few couture shows in july, she hit New York in september. And so did Sofie Roelens as well as Ekaterina Detcheva who definitely made her mark among the redheads squad in Paris. Sandra Gajauskaite didn't disappoint in Paris too with her enchanting, slender silhouette.
Maybe the most successful was Alice Gibb who was nearly everywhere she had to be, including MiuMiu and in front of Meisel's camera. Seems that her career has taken a brand new turn this season.
We were eagerly waiting for Nataliya Piro and Marina Dreux in Paris again but didn't see any. This being said Marina had a decent show season earlier this year in Sao Paulo and Nataliya was almost everywhere in Madrid. And entered the "Verve" section at Select Models which means she should be ready for some positive changes in her career in the UK.
Cicely Telman seems to stay sky-high (Vogue Paris editorial and other highlights on mags and runways) and Tanya Chubko experimented another management in Paris. Both are still among the most sought-after and our hopes remains really high for them. Add to them Jeanette Thevenin, who did Marc Jacobs once again.

Let's see the who are the newcomers. First you have Holland Stevens, at Major NY who managed to book some nice shows and might be today's most promising redhead, in the US at least. Irina Magda, another freckly fresh face at Major did some appearances too and caught our eyes before and during NY shows. Elaine Kenny who went from brown to clearly red hair did well all over the season, from New York to Paris. Milan also have some new ones to wach. Think about Natalia Doronina at Women, Emily Lambe at Elite and Sophie Wilkinson who unfortunately didn't any shows but looks awesome and ready for much, much more.

Erica McDonalds and Emily Trimble were spotted at many shows in Paris which is quite a good addition to their portfolio. While the cute Julia Shvets popped up on Nathalie Models' board and in latest Lula's pages.

Who's next ? Emily Fox at Supreme, maybe. But who knows ? At least we'll keep you posted about every models who's red and hot. Stay tuned for the next step on the read thread !

For me it seems like a rule that fashion needs extremely unique or totally innocent looks every single season. Fashion always needs to have both, I think it's for the balance, who knows, imo fashion industry is too fast to judge right now. And who is a redhead? Simply an extremely unique AND totally innocent looking girl, so it's a great- as you wrote in another context- surprise for fashion I think. Having a redhead model on the runway is such a refreshing thing, just in general- same with eds and covers! Then why not?

I've just realised that I've never been keen on any redhead model particularly, really, but I've recently felt in love with Nataliya Piro after seeing her L'Officiel ed by Tyszka :heart: But I do love redheads, they look so real and- at the same time- out of this world.
