Laragh McCann @ Women (NY)

The first words we heard around the Laragh McCann-topic a few times ago were all close to cute. This was maybe our first impression too yet something told us very early that her appeal might be a bit beyond cuteness. She's cute, that's a fact. Many models are cute if you want to see it from this angle. Maby but not all are able to play with as Lara does and only a few can get rid of any shade of cuteness when the role they have to play demands it. First on the runway. As soon as you're booking a decent amount of shows in four different towns you can be sure the mood will change from on runway to the other - in Laragh's case it's more than decent provided it includes regular appearances at MiuMiu, (Marc by) Marc Jacobs or Louis Vuitton to name a few. That's how we saw the serious Laragh, the ghost Laragh, the funny Laragh and so on. The big surprise comes from her face you won't always expect to be that expressive as at first she could easily be this kind of models à la Lily Cole: such a unique face doesn't need much expressions, it's already so unique. After the runway perfmormances, her editorial work confirms this rare and unexpected ability. Gracing the pages of many high-profile magazines including i-D, Wonderland, Dazed & Confused, Cover and Muse (twice), she proved how she can embody various characters, fit many moods and styling. From the most colorful series to some pretty minimalistic topless shots, from the Childlike Empress to some medieval vibe. This being said and after adding to the list some campaigns for Blugirl and Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti, we're sure some sides of her remaining beautifully hidden and waiting to be discovered. We didn't pick the close-up styled with a newsboy-cap out from four pieces of showcard by chance. This shot seems to open new perspectives meanwhile being such a wonderful overview of Laragh's potential and work through the last seasons. The perfect character to play for a model like her. Even more perfect are the polaroids. Or both together as our vision of Laragh today: already an incredibly thrilling editorial book, filled with delightful fashion stories and some totally unexplored sides with enormous opportunities left. Is there anything more exciting before a new season starts ?
