This is a story on how an out-of-date ticket leads to an out-of-tune portrait. 11pm this morning, we had to stop a few tramway station earlier as usual when we noticed our tickets were both out-of-date and that station happened to be the closest to our favorite bookshop. Was too good not to stop by as we know french mags like Mixte, L'Officiel, Vogue Paris or Numéro should be released quite soon. None of them actually was yet we went out of the shop with two italian and two less-known french ones including Dedicate. Which we bought for the cover plus editorial featuring Uliana Tikhova. She's still too rare, she's so precious and the story above is quite different and unusual for her yet still very Uliana. After all, every piece of her work so far had some strong styling from her debuts in W to Mixte or Vogue Russia and this newest story shot by Fred Rambaud won't deny her chameleon abilities. If you take a look at her on the runway, things are on the same slope. Appearing here and spotted there, and despite being far from overexposed, designers remained loyal and faithful to her. Including "big names" all around the world from Antonio Marras, Albino or Zucca who always pcik the interesting newbies to Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen. More recently Lanvin or Dries Van Noten have to be added to that list. Though, more than to any other, Uliana in Paris will always be related to Nina Ricci, from the excitement of her first time walking there to this season's tears of joy when she walked it again. Back to today, 5pm. Of course having an editorial with her in our bag was too much not to do some scans. We just thought it would have been such a incomplete portrait without some digitals focused on her natural look. The result might appear as a bit out-of-tune yet very true to Uliana's potential. Out-of-tune and under control.
