The Room on the Roof (Atlantis is yelling)

Natalya Piro @ Women Direct (NY)

We're following her since her early beginnings, we can almost say we began at the same time and we've never stopped believing in her. She's Natalya Piro (Nataliya sometimes, Pirozhkova sometimes). She's one of these girls who gave birth to our Redhead Issues and one we'll never let down. After all these seasons (let's even say all these years) she's still getting interesting work, level is on the rise and number as well. There is not a single month without an editorial with Natalya. Of course, she didn't gather Vogue Italia covers by dozens and in a row. She's never been a catwalk queen and she doesn't get all the ad campaigns for her alone. This being said, her career is one of the most interesting today, blended with sensational editorials with almost every possible kind of photographer and published in any type of magazines. If she didn't get the cover, she's in Vogue Italia's supplement by Greg Lotus this month. No less.

Why the title ? Funny title, funny explanation. We had some plans to feature this all-redhead editorial as soon as we noticed it but hadn't had the oppotunity until now. And two days ago we had a dream as it often happens. Natalya was one of the characters, probably a reminiscence of the times we met her backstage in Paris. The other part of that strange dream was a strange hotel with a strange ladder leading to a room on the roof which was the door of Atlantis. We visited the country, visited the town. Etc. It doesn't really matter. All was odd and familiar. Just like the editorial after all. Why booking three redheads when you don't focus on the hair ? It's tricky and lovely. Dreamlike. Surreal. Unreal. Whimsical. Especially when you know you won't find any brighter red hair than Natalya, Emily Fox and Cintia Dicker. You've got it.

Back to Piro, back to her career, her appeal and what sets her in a class by herself. You will always find Natalya where you don't expect her. That's one of her biggest talent, being able to keep the shock of the new and the charm of the unexpected. Like in... dreams, actually. Except her career is real and her portfolio is strong, the rest is pure fantasy and close to fantastic stories. It might come from her own features, expressions and abilities to embody various characters. She can jump from one world to the other, re-invent her attitude from sexy to quirky and looks forever fresh, time just can't take its toll on her beauty. We guess it's this timeless face that makes her equally striking wether the pictures are taken by Ellen Von Unwert or Indira Cesarine, Ben Watts or John Paul Pietrus, David Bellemere or David Thompson. Whatever.
