FORD Does It Better
Lakshmi Menon @ Ford (NY)
Some agencies want their girls to get their slice of spotlights even before the shows begin. Some others are quite quick to update us even during the rush and a few ones only consider it worth to tell us something when the shows are over for a little while. Ford NY belongs to none of these groups, their strategy includes both the efficiency of releasing the info in time and the wisdom of those who know to wait until the perfect moment. To tell it clearly: never too early, never too late. Just facts, figures and fancy.
Relentless scouting then neverending development efforts and a clear aesthetic statement as show package. Every part of the process has its own importance and the results get even more delightful for any agency who has done everything step by step. Making it right. Iconic girls like Lakshmi Menon have found their pace and keep the level sky high. The delicate, timeless beauty booked no less than Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg, Derek Lam and now Michael Kors, among others and the new generation is ready to take it further. And higher. Meet the new Kate, Cici and read more of Jacquelyn's impressions on her successful week.

Kate Somers @ Ford (NY)
Kate Somers. Laid-back, graceful, unpredictable. Gotta meet her backstage ? Gonna love her within a second. First time we got totally hypnotised by Ford's very own red-haired Canadian was two seasons ago in Paris. Muddy lanes and flying dead leaves, gorgeous atmosphere. After the break, the breakthrough: Kate is back at Marc. Marc as in Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Enough Marc to make her marks for good this time, hating the pun while loving its sense.

Cici Ali @ Ford (NY)
Laying your cards on the table just makes sense when all the show packages from all the agencies are suddenly out. Favorite game ? Seeing who stands out from the crowd. And the winner was Cici from Ford, clearly among the most interesting of the package and the most fascinating in town this week. Favorite showtime perk ? Seeing our picks doing well. Cici impressed at Jason Wu and carried on the magic around after taking off there. We're too speecheless to name them all and the list is still growing.

Jacquelyn Jablonski @ Ford (NY)
Last but not least, our extra feature on the agency's success story of the season so far. Jacquelyn Jablonski or the epitome of today's Ford-girl. Discovered, developed and launched with a rock-solid book to... rock the runway. Gathering no less than DKNY, BCBG, Herve Leger, Rag & Bone, Max Azria and Marc by Marc on the same list, she's one of the girls you can't have overlooked this week. Here you've got bits of our convo with her this afternoon.
Fashion Does It Better: Jacquelyn, you've just walked some of the most coveted runways this week, how do you feel right now, considering you've been "in development" for a few years?
Jacquelyn Jablonski: I'm very happy with how everything has been going. I have been looking forward to this ever since my graduation and it's been crazy but very exciting at the same time.
FDIB: Are we going to have more opportunities to see you at NY shows this week ?
JJ: Yes I have three shows today and still waiting to hear about my confirmations for tomorrow, so cross your fingers and hopefully you will see me tomorrow as well!
Which shows do you consider as milestones in your career ?
No show in particular.. everyone of them have been so amazing and helpful with my career. I loved them all!
FDIB: A favorite moment this week, something you enjoyed ?
JJ: I had a lot of fun at the Erin Wasson show because there was a live band playing on the runway that was so amazing and everyone was dancing backstage. It was my last show of the day and was a great way to end it.
FDIB: You worked for magazines like V or Italian Elle which are well known to give good opportunities to new faces. Any magazine you're dreaming of ?
JJ: Well I would LOVE to be in Vogue because I feel like that is when you know you have made it.
FDIB: US, Paris, Italia or no matter which one as long as it's Vogue ?
JJ: I love them all! Any of them would be amazing!
FDIB: Last and quick one as you might be in a rush, what's next after New York ?
JJ: I am heading to Milan for the shows and then Paris!
Big thanks to Jacquelyn for the answers and for posing in front of the webcam during twenty minutes. Thanks to the whole team at Ford NY for allowing us to travel without having to leave our seats. And thanks to our computer and connection for crashing both only two times today, allowing us to finish such an amazing piece.
