The Muse and The Musemaker
Alena Smolyaruk @ Major (NY)
A muse in making. How does this start, how often and so on. Questions left without answers, inspiration never tells where its roots are. Too far, too close. Whatever. Inspiration can come fast as a lightning or slowly, slowly, slowly (but taking you by storm when you clearly don't expect it at all). That's why working closely with photographers is always a plus for us, their vision of new girls in town will always be slightly different from ours and even from the agent's. Aims and feelings play their own roles in that story and in the end nobody's right, nobody's wrong it's all a matter of point of view. Jonathan Leder loves to work with Alena Smolyaruk, recently signed with Major in New York. He gave us reasons but the best of them has no reason itself. It's what happens between the model and the camera that really counts even if we can all praise her wild side balancing sophisticated feminity or an unusual intensity suddenly popping up from the most common poses. Still, it's all unclear and mysterious. And it's what makes a muse after all.
