Resort 08: milestones and marvels
It seems this resort show season was plenty of milestones from Dior to Herrera including Miu Miu and Oscar de la Renta. I don't mean by milestones that those shows have set new standards, I don't even really believe there is room for standard in today's fashion industry but I mean it in terms of ideas or concepts. It's said to be commercial, it's resort so take this commercial side for granted yet never forget to look beyond it. It's even sometimes this commercial aspect that leads to another way of creativity... this is an endless topic though, and I guess everyone has his own point on this. All I can say is that I've already experienced it myself when I had to do a specific project to sell and had specific conditions, it just boosted my imagination: how to cope with some rules and break them, implicitly.
Oh, and let's just forget this story of milestones for a few minutes and concentrate on some marvelous outfits...
Carolina Herrera

I've mentioned this collection as of the "milestones" and I strongly believed it's a perfect example of the good shape of this resort season's collections. And good shapes, if I may add. It's refreshing and full of "summer vibe" without being too much or obvious summer clothes...
models: Erin Heatherton, Alyona Osmanova, Adina Fohlin, Alexandra Tomlinson, Behati Prinsloo and Cintia Dicker.
Badgley Mischka

I've already told it as an introduction to these two collections, let's concentrate on marvelous outfits. And that's what Badgley Mischka is all about: cute, intriguing, eye-appealing items mixing tiny outfits like those featured above, long dresses and swimwear pieces in a very coherent collection. Red, gold and prints all the way and a surprising palette of bright colors at the end, always with emphasis on elegant silhouettes...
