A matter of covers...

   

Four Vogue covers, four different moods. Germany, Brazil, Japan and USA. Each one with its own identity, its usual habits and its surprises. What can we say ? That Hana Soukupova is back on German Vogue cover, in a shiny silver dress that makes you almost forget the Vogue fonts in light pink. That's very different from her black cover last year yet it's purely German Vogue spirit. Identity yet innovation, sounds nice and the issue looks interesting. Then the Brazilian edition, featuring Sheila Baum. Good to see her, she's doing well and a Vogue cover is more than great news after Rio's fashion week and her editorial in Citizen K. So Vogue Brazil remains Vogue Brazil and strengthen its image, using some Brazilian models including rather new ones. Vogue Nippon, we knew they like Stam. And we knew they like white covers (that's not really a secret...), especially with green and orange fonts as we've seen it with their march cover featuring Vlada Roslyakova. But I don't see a problem, I don't think that's repetitive in the way Stam's mood differs from Vlada's and it's also the point of Italian Amica's covers - always the same designs, relying on models to make the difference. So, I'm not bored at all, I think there's much more creativity in doing that than in using the same kind of sets and the same kind of celebrities etc. Vogue US' cover was "slightly" different in may with their supermodel-ish concept then went back to their perpetual styling and casting featuring Keira Knightley in june. It's slightly (this time it's really the word I'll use) different again with Natalia Vodianova. Well styling is very classical US Vogue and it's not a bold choice to put her on the cover. But I want to give it chance regarding I didn't get the obnioxous feeling I had last month. I'm just eagerly waiting to see what the eds look like...
