Berlin fashion week

Yesterday we reviewed Hugo Boss s/s 08 showed in Berlin, now it's time to take a closer look at other designers featuring their latest collection in Germany. Boss was surprising, with nice prints and well thought shapes here and there, today it's a rather different atmosphere including different atmospheres.

Strenesse s/s 08

It's all about dresses and coats, at least the best pieces were dresses and coats. In bright colors or all in black leaving only a few room for one or two well-done printed items like the striped dress worn by Vivane Orth, the collection is good but not especially exciting. Good means I've found many items that appear as interesting for their cuts, shapes and colors (purples are remarkable, bright yellow is brilliant and green's always welcome here !) though the whole thing still lacks of a twist of fantasy, only the striped dress gives me real goosebumps...

Anglomania s/s 08

Totally different mood in Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania collection. Far away from the clean cuts of Strenesse, Anglomania is full of shapes tricks and prints associations like stripes mixed to huge polka-dots. Hats are here again (if you remember Vivienne's collection in Paris for s/s 07) and the huge one landed once again on Kinga's head. The whole show is lovely and it becomes more interesting when you check the pieces one by one. It's sometimes funny items, sometimes intriguing, sometimes quite brilliant. Flashy green on the shoes makes it, really.

Smilinener s/s 08

Discovery of the day: Smilinener, a collection that puts the print thing even much further than Westwood. Bright colors are the rule, some strict shapes make the balance. At the begining I was tied between two feelings: why not? and wow that rocks! and now I'm still a little uncertain but sure I like something in this show. And I would wear some pieces...

I've seen a few other pics of shows like Kilian Kerner and... C-Neeon but not enough to make a serious review. Though my first impressions are quite good, so stay tuned !
