Butterflies ball at Manish Arora s/s 08 Paris

ma12

It was on sunday, the first sunday of the fashion week in Paris. Our first day. Manish Arora was probably the first show I wanted to see and I expected it to be the climax of the day.
And I wasn't disappointed at all. It took place at the Grand Hotel, a wonderful place, the set was perfect and the lighting suited well the collection. So, what did it actually look like ?
It looked like Manish Arora, at his best and the way I love his work. Prints for sure, bright colors of course and I've already mentioned it in a previous article, a very precise sense of the accurate shapes and cuts to get on well with his prints and colors frenzy. Bright, acid yellows, pink, rainbow colors; indian references meeting Eiffel Tower prints. The biggest talent of Manish Arora might be his ability to put so many things together and to manage to make them look natural this way, it's not even weird or quiky, just delightful and fresh, sometimes yummy.
Every length or shape is used, always in the most clever way. Add to that the incredible make-up (as always) and some metalic reminiscences of his previous collection yet not too much to be repetitive. And a black and white dress you'll almost say it's colorful too as well as his last outfit, a yellow long dress with tons of butterflies from head to toe.
Details are his strenghts as when he puts too much details it seems never enough. That's funny, that makes me happy as I went back from the show with a big smile and that's outftis that are both spectactle and "real" clothes.
Dress dramatic now !
