Silver letters and golden girls — the shortest description to talk about Supreme's Spring Summer 2011 show package. Short is not enough, though, for this extended and expensive packet which meets its first goal as soon as you see it: giving a new identity to an brandy with a totally different history. Switching from its previous trademark to a new signature, obviously moving from the original aesthetic to another one reflecting the new vision at the agency. Nobody can tell yet what the impact of the (still) recent moves in New York will be but it's not too early to observe what this fresh wind blowing these last months has brought in terms of creativity and... image.

Packages tend to be huge this season and it's practically impossible to write a review, bringing our point of view to the table without making our own selection of cards. In other words: impossible to post the whole package (though there is an overview included in its last pages — smart idea) and we had to pick, very carefully, which ones we believe are reflecting the current situation, current atmosphere. The current 'signature models' of Supreme. Another dilemma came across our minds while working on this: who to consider first? The recent additions, also known as the fresh faces, or the 'iconic' young women that established themselves at Supreme as one would move into his new home? Or would the best idea be right in between, a hand-picked selection we would turn into a smart mix of newbies and all-time favorites? We went for another solution, close to the latter but including a few unexpected names who are neither regularly featured models on FDIB nor those you would assiociate immediately with the new team running the agency. Not even brand-new faces for some of them. Giving to the overused expression 'out of the blue' a refreshed meaning.

We have to be honest, we didn't touch the cards with our little hands so saying that we 'opened' it is a bit exaggerated. So, when we 'opened the files' containing the virtual cards, our first sight was Georgia Frost. Not who we expected to see first, maybe not who we expected to see at all. But it was quite a great feeling to see her name, see her face on a showcard. Don't remember when was last time we saw or paid attention to Georgia on a card but it was such a delightful shock for a first vision of Supreme, Spring Summer 2011 version. Next models to capture our attention were naturally Jacquelyn and Lakshmi, would be unfair neither mentioning them nor posting their pictures. The two count among the best examples of this unusual kind of timeless beauties who can leave a remarkable and remarkably durable mark on modeling. New Supreme-symbols? We hope for it and would go for it, anytime.

Then came a team of girls, still making their way and three names immediately stood out: Kasia, Olga and Michelle, all three recently featured on FDIB, all three getting out interest and attention since their early days. Models who fit the 'new' Supreme like fishes to water and embody what we called above 'this unusual kind of timeless beauty'. Not stopping there: the next two are out of the same broken mold, Chrishell Stubbs and Bregje Heinen. From the refreshing touch brought by Ms Stubbs (from test shots we adored to campaigns pictures we admired) to Bregje's unparalleled editorial abilities. Add one more name to this list, Ieva Laguna and it's not even necessary to mention why.

Our overview of the package wouldn't be complete without Kel Markey added to the mix. Probably the new one there who really impressed us, from her most natural pictures to the most sophisticated she did so far. She would certainly have a spot on the list we made in previous paragraph but deserved a few words dedicated to her alone. Not trying to label her as the 'next big thing' or whatever the name is this season for the 'hottest new girls in town' but we believe the future is made of young ladies who can stand out from the crowd. Relying on their own looks rather than following a formatted pattern. Further newbies in the box (and ready to step out of it) include Johanne, Ilva (featured last week), Madeleine, Katie, Tairica... and many others we leave you the choice to spot yourself on the Supreme trombinoscope above.
