Fashion does it Better

Romantic Warrior

Lindsey Wixson @ Marilyn (NY) Fashion week frenzy goes on and it seems we keep heading to another direction... to get back to it later. First interesting things, first expectations (not ours) coming true or not, first days and a few more ahead of everyone before the craziness flies to London and so on. We are rather turning to our latest magazine buys than commenting on first shows results and actually we found much more to say on AnOther Magazine than on what's happening on the runways so... Take it Easy, Take it Slow, See Ya Tomorrow

Chris @ Image Discovery Fashion week, frenzy, rush: not for us today. We'll have to go back to it soon enough not to be worried of getting away from the main events of these days. And it's just the first moments of four full weeks so no need to be too focused too early. So, what do we have to change our minds? New horizons and... new faces, as easy as it sounds. Young sprouts who aren't running from casting to casting yet, who are not worried of arriving late at their next show and so on. Opening the ball of our Fall... [Lire la suite]

Do Not Need Science, Just Beauty Etc.

The 'game' has officially started but the 'games' are not done yet. Even if everyone here and there wants everyone else there and here to believe the affair is packed for the season. Predictions, bets, wild guesses and whatever else it could be: every mouth right now can say five or ten names, even with the best luck the final results have high chances to be dramatically different. That might be a very interesting season (still ahead of us for now) and we're living the most boring and frustrating part of it... [Lire la suite]

FDIB loves and bookmarks: Elite NY's Models of the Day

Here we go again. Elite NY did it last season and does it again, daily blog features on their new models in town and these 'Models of the Day' caught our attention this time too. Simple polaroid-sheets that say more than long texts or sophisticated editorial outtakes, simple as a light-speed introduction which is probably the only way an agent can talk about his models during fashion week frenzy. Just a post and a few works like... well, the model's name, her favorite designer and music brand. Short statements and loads... [Lire la suite]

Straight Line (To The Point)

It's been a little while since last time we talked about Ksenia. Was a quick intro, actually, and we're really, geniunely happy to be able to drop a few lines again. We've had the opportunity to see a lot of materials of the newcomers who recently arrived in town at New York Models for Spring Summer 2011 and almost each of them would be worth having a complete entry dedicated to her but you know how it goes. Fast and we have to keep everything as selective as possible, as relevant as we can. Making choices and decisions... [Lire la suite]

Silver Bullet

Silver letters and golden girls — the shortest description to talk about Supreme's Spring Summer 2011 show package. Short is not enough, though, for this extended and expensive packet which meets its first goal as soon as you see it: giving a new identity to an brandy with a totally different history. Switching from its previous trademark to a new signature, obviously moving from the original aesthetic to another one reflecting the new vision at the agency. Nobody can tell yet what the impact of the (still)... [Lire la suite]

Her Stare Is Louder Than Your Voice

Michelle Den Hollander @ SPS (The Netherlands), Supreme (NY) If you take the time to listen to our rhyme, you would be aware of Michelle's magical stare. Something you can't miss, can't overlook even if you glimpse at the pictures for a few seconds only. Michelle never gets rid of it and that's for the very best but this time Anouk Morgan managed to bring this extraordinary feature to another level. We don't even think it was meant to be this way, it's just the natural result of a great collaboration, of a... [Lire la suite]

Judging The Book By Its Cover

Grey like the sky we like, grey like an atmosphere. If we begin with Grey Magazine, we can hardly stop so let's rather spare our words tonight and keep them for the day we'll have it in hands and see what's inside for real. Let's stop and spare, and let's stick to the cover. Beautiful and simple, simply beautiful and beautifully simple (sorry for using that old trick again) as we wish every cover would be (or become). Plain and powerful, like a lost treasure you would find again by chance. As subtle as it's simple, showing... [Lire la suite]

Reality

Reny @ New York Models (NY) You could totally imagine her coming from a magical realist novel or one of Frida Kahlo's paintings but Reny is from Hungary (VM Model), she's 5'10 high and new at New York Models. And she's for real, neither the character of a book nor a pretty painting. We guess some would love to paint her but so far we see her more as a photographer's muse than in any other role. Recently arrived in town and completing her portfolio these days, hopefully getting a masterpiece in it soon (what... [Lire la suite]

FDIB loves and bookmarks: Wilhelmina S/S 2011 on Digital Diamonds

Watching show packages popping up and by is a night-time obsession these days as each agency is currently releasing its own show team for Spring Summer 2011. From aesthetic statements to innovative concepts, from signature styles to visual revolutions, from crazy moods to classy minimalism: this season doesn't lack creativity in New York and actually has been rising non stop over the last few years. Sometimes with the risk of seeing the packaging overshadow the proposals, the concept steal the first role to the contents. It's... [Lire la suite]
