Pixies and Pumpkins

Amanda Norgaard @ Viva (Paris), Supreme (NY) It's rocking and whirling in the land of pixies and pumpkins when Amanda Norgaard gets involved in the storyboard. In a short series dedicated to movies, especially those inspired by fairytales, the delicate Dane plays one role after the other and embodies each character with the same power, bringing them all back to life. We had no trouble to imagine her as the Little Mermaid (and it's actually the only story which inspired two pages in a row),... [Lire la suite]

FDIB loves and bookmarks: Marike by Beau Grealy

Marike Le Roux @ Wilhelmina (NY) Long time we haven't officially bookmarked any blog piece on FDIB but truth is we rely a lot more on our second page, J'avoue J'aime for this kind of entries (faster and right to the point). But this occasion seemed made for FDIB as both Marike Le Roux and Beau Grealy were already featured here and when one of our favorite model works with one of our favorite photographer, it's tough not to mention it here. The story comes from Italian Flair, May 2010 issue and was spotted on Wilhelmina's blog... [Lire la suite]

Sullen Sky

Avalon @ Ragazza Model Management (The Netherlands) It's almost Summer, right ? Not when you look outside, at least but tomorrow is June already and it should mean Summer soon. It should, things never go the way they should and that's maybe better so. Nothing in the world will ever replace the feeling of waking up in Riga in November when you just open the window... in France in May. Don't need to travel anymore. New pictures of Avalon are in a summery mood when you look at them first but turns out to be on a... [Lire la suite]

Only Othilia

Othilia Simon @ Silent (Paris) Last post of the week and maybe the one we anticipated most since last weekend, since we got the materials and made the decision it was big time to do it. Othilia, probably the very best suprise of the season and the only geniune one -- how many people knew who she was when she first hit the runway in February, who knew her story or even just her agency ? Because it doesn't happen every season, with all these specialized medias giving a lot information and countless hints on new models' moves even... [Lire la suite]

Sienna in Sight

Sienna @ Select (London) Did we tell you we started working with Select because of our Redheads sections on the blog ? Once upon a time (not so long but not that short anymore), we were seeking new cooperations with agencies in main fashion cities and naturally turned to London's best, among those: Select Model Management. The reason why it actually started was that fancy Redhead section on FDIB, called "Redhead Love" at that time (it's still called like that, somehow) with our good old "Redhead Issues" reviewing... Grey Day

Constance Jablonski @ Marilyn (NY) Grey Day would be the ultimate title for a post right now for several, even if we weren't writing on Grey Magazine right now. Grey sky, stormy weather, grey lights in the office and even the music sounds grey etc. Could be just a trick to talk about something else, going slightly away from the topic but it's just the heart of the topic. Grey Magazine with its grey cover on a grey day, could it make any more sense ? Let's stick to it and dig deeper. Grey is not the kind of magazine you put on a pile... [Lire la suite]

Fancy Flower(s)

Amy @ Elite (NY) Usually when a photographer sends you a color picture and its black and white counterpart, it's up to you to choose the one you would like to use. In other words: which one looks better. That might have been Kristiina Wilson's purpose too. Or not, after all it's not the first time she sends us materials like these, black and white and full colors versions of the same shot. And it's not the first time the idea of having the two versions side by side crosses our minds. Creating some contrast, playing with... [Lire la suite]

A Short Story Gone Long

Irina Shipunova @ AL Models Today's first story (okay, it's already late in the afternoon but some things definitely take more time than others) is dedicated to Irina Shipunova, after working on her topic for a few days already. You might think it's not that complicated to put a few pictures, a few polas and five to ten lines of text explaining why we like her and where she comes from/goes to. It doesn't take that much, indeed, if we stick to simple facts or just want to introduce the girl. A few pics, few lines and basta. If... [Lire la suite]

Talented Teenager

Brittany McPhee @ Elite (NY) She's one of the few models who start young and really leave a mark. Starting young in modeling has been quite pleonastic for years but it doesn't seem to be so relevant anymore and examples of girls starting rather "late" and doing well are easier to find nowadays. Not saying girls who start early are that rare but the approach went from "the faster the better" to a steady pace, with much emphasis put on development -- step by step. Though, among those young ladies, you'll always... [Lire la suite]

Lizzy on the List

Lizzy Burden @ Supreme (NY) Okay, it's not Monday but it seems so. Yesterday was a holiday in France and seemed like a Sunday. Or not exactly. Quite difficult these days to name the day, if you've ever experienced the feeling (well, french people should be used to it as wolrdwide champions of holidays). So, yesterday would have been a real Sunday if the rest of the world wasn't working and agencies weren't updating us on what's going where people don't spend free time in the sun. That was for the little... [Lire la suite]
